David Michael is a writer, director, and producer currently based in Stockholm. Before moving to Sweden, he lived in Brooklyn, where he worked as a writer/director and creative director at CNN’s Courageous Studios. Before that, he lived in Rockford, Illinois, where he worked as a screw factory shipping clerk.
His videos have appeared on CNN, HBO, PBS, and Great Big Story, among others, and he is a recipient of an Edward R. Murrow Award for his work.
His writing and reporting have been published by The New York Times, The New Republic, The Paris Review, Slate, America, and Commonweal, among others. Alas, he is not the David J. Michael who wrote Death Tour.
He is currently developing a feature podcast and is represented by Verve.
